Product
Most of the juices are available in the form of concentrate, not from concentrate/single strength, pulp, puree.

There are different qualities of orange juice concentrate available differing in ratio/brix, depending on the country/region. It is common practice in orange juice concentrate that concentrate from different producers and or/producer countries are blended to reach the quality/taste that is required for the consumer.

The orange juice concentrate is being transported frozen in barrels. There are 70 barrels in one refrigerated container.

The following juice ingredients are on offer:
  • organic orange juice concentrate & NFC
  • organic mango pulp
  • organic guava pulp
  • organic lime juice
  • organic banana puree or concentrate
  • orange juice concentrate & NFC
  • pink and white grapefruit concentrate & NFC
  • pineapple juice concentrate
  • mango pulp
  • guava pulp
  • lime juice
  • banana puree or concentrate.

In India pineapple juice is squeezed from the whole fruit thus a yellow juice full of enzymes and vitamins.


Market
13 National Initiatives are selling juices on their markets. The main distribution channels are retail, supermarkets and ATOs. The sales of juices is still increasing, also due to many different juice ingredients being on offer, new NIs launching juice. In 2003 a growth of 36% could be realized.

There is a trend in some European countries for organic juices, which can now also be offered. In 2003 the world market price was quite below the FLO minimum price for orange juice at US$ 700-900.

There are price fluctuations in “trendy” juices because the taste/demand changes quickly.
