| Thanks to a number of significant donors, FLO is able to fund around 16 Liaison Officers on the ground. This resource is invaluable in offering direct support to producers who wish to find out more about Fairtrade as well as supporting those producers who are currently certified.
Core Responsibilities
Liaison Officers offer information, advice and training to producers
- to improve compliance with Fairtade Standards.
- to improve their market opportunities.
In return Liaison Officers are in a position to inform FLO about product and regional developments of interest to the markets.
Tasks
Liaison Officers have innumerable tasks, but the most important ones can be defined as follows:
- Seeking new Suppliers/Products/Origins
- Providing an introduction to producers to Fairtrade.
- Support Work following Inspections
- Sourcing and liaising with local external support agencies
- Helping coordinate the Pricing Process.
- Provide information about local networks.
- Represent Fairtrade in local workshops/conferences as required and agreed.
Liaison Officers are not responsible for Standard setting, Inspection, Certification, Product Management or Supply Chain Management.
