A sustainable future starts with sustainable food systems. This new policy defines how Fairtrade understands sustainability socially, economically, and environmentally. It enables us to equally focus our efforts on all three dimensions and seeks to advance Fairtrade’s work in the environmental sphere.

The policy embraces agroecological principles and will support Fairtrade to:

  • bridge the gap between social justice and the global climate crisis
  • bring our climate work in line with our 2021-2025 Global Strategy
  • advocate for public policies that support agroecological transition and align with existing and future legislation
  • open up space and set a framework for future partnerships.
