Fairtrade International launched a programme in 2023 to support cocoa producer organisations to strengthen prevention and remediation of child labour and forced labour. This is the first report of this programme's progress. It includes information on Fairtrade cooperatives approved for funding in the first and second round of disbursements the programme. Four organisations received funding in wave one, and five in wave two, in amounts ranging from €12,000 to €18,000. The projects, proposed by each organisation, focus on education, such as construction or renovation of classrooms, or purchasing bicycles for children who live far from school. Independent monitoring and evaluation on a section of projects funded by the programme will be conducted in 2025.
