This report includes 2021 monitoring data for the Latin America and Caribbean region, as well as results of producer surveys. Producer organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean make up about half of all Fairtrade certified organizations worldwide: by the end of 2021, there were 970 Fairtrade producer organizations in 23 countries throughout the region. More than 370,000 farmers and workers in the region make up about 18 percent of the global total in the Fairtrade system. Producers in the region earned €121.9 million in Fairtrade Premium in 2021 to spend on projects of their choice. Coffee and bananas are the highest selling Fairtrade products in the region and making up almost 80% of all Fairtrade Premium earned, followed by cocoa, fresh fruit, and cane sugar.
