Upcoming Living Incomes and Living Wages Conference

  • 02.04.25

Fairtrade and the Fair Trade Advocacy Office are hosting an event, “Bridging Policy and Practice: Advancing Living Incomes & Living Wages in Agricultural Supply Chains", in partnership with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).

This conference will bring together policymakers, companies, academics and civil society to explore how public policies can enable living incomes and living wages for workers and smallholder farmers in global agri-food supply chains, also showcasing best practices and ongoing initiatives.

The event will build on the Public Policy Roadmap on Living Income and Living Wage in Global Agricultural Supply Chains, recently published by Fairtrade. This important document draws attention to the many options public authorities have to create an enabling policy framework for living incomes and living wages, highlighting the role of governments as regulators, economic actors, and partners.

With growing regulatory developments such as the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), the Unfair Trading Practices Directive (UTP), and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), this discussion comes at a pivotal moment, as we transition from ambition to implementation.
