As a Producer Network, Fairtrade NAPP collaborates and works with various stakeholders and external partners to enhance market access, advocacy, and community development.


Fairtrade NAPP serves as a bridge between producers and the broader Fairtrade ecosystem, connecting them with NFOs, Fairtrade International, businesses, consumers, media, and donors. This collaboration ensures that the interests of Asia-Pacific producers are represented in national and international markets, and they benefit from fair trade practices. Through its partnership efforts, Fairtrade NAPP helps producers build their capacity, access new markets, and improve their livelihoods. It also works to raise awareness and advocate for a more just and sustainable global trading system, ensuring that all stakeholders contribute to the empowerment and well-being of small-scale farmers and workers in the region.


Producers
Producers are at the heart of Fairtrade NAPP’s mission. Fairtrade NAPP works directly with producer organizations, cooperatives, and plantations across the Asia-Pacific region to ensure they comply with Fairtrade standards and receive the full benefits of the Fairtrade system. Through technical support and training FT NAPP supports producers in improving their agricultural practices, increasing product quality, and navigating global markets. In addition, NAPP helps producers access the Fairtrade Premium, which is reinvested in community development projects such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure improvements. By representing producers in decision-making processes at both regional and global levels, NAPP ensures that their voices are heard and their interests are protected.
Fairtrade International
Fairtrade NAPP works hand-in-hand with Fairtrade International, the body responsible for setting global Fairtrade standards and coordinating the Fairtrade system worldwide. As one of the three regional producer networks, NAPP plays a vital role in representing the interests of Asia-Pacific producers in global discussions and decision-making processes. NAPP collaborates with Fairtrade International to ensure that standards remain relevant to producers' realities and to advocate for policies that protect their rights, improve working conditions, and promote sustainability. Together, they work to align Fairtrade’s global strategies with regional producer needs.
National Fairtrade Organizations (NFOs) and Fairtrade Marketing Organisations (FMOs)
Fairtrade NAPP works closely with 25 National Fairtrade Organizations (NFOs) and 08 Fairtrade Marketing Organisations (FMOs) in different countries to promote the visibility and accessibility of Fairtrade-certified products. NFOs, operate primarily in consumer markets, help raise awareness about Fairtrade, market certified products, and grow consumer demand. FT NAPP collaborates with these organizations to ensure that the needs and challenges of producers in the Asia-Pacific region are reflected in national campaigns, product promotions and other consumer awareness and advocacy efforts. This collaboration strengthens the link between producers and markets, allowing producers to benefit from enhanced visibility, sales and premium investments.
Donors and Partners
Fairtrade NAPP collaborates with various funding donors and partners including governments, development agencies, and non-governmental organizations, to secure funding and resources for programs that benefit producer communities. These programs focus on capacity building, infrastructure development, climate resilience, and social projects that improve the well-being of farmers and workers. NAPP also partners with NGOs and development organizations to implement projects aimed at improving working conditions, gender equality, and environmental sustainability. These partnerships allow NAPP to enhance its impact, providing producers with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive in a globalized economy.
Businesses
Fairtrade NAPP works with businesses, both locally and globally, to expand market access for Fairtrade-certified producers in the Asia-Pacific region. It helps producers form partnerships with ethical companies that commit to sourcing products such as coffee, tea, cotton under Fairtrade terms. FT NAPP facilitates these connections, ensuring that producers receive fair prices and that businesses can meet growing consumer demand for ethical and sustainable products. Additionally, FT NAPP assists producers in improving product quality and meeting the expectations of international markets, thus strengthening trade relationships and fostering long-term partnerships.
Traders
Traders play a vital role in the Fairtrade supply chain by connecting producers with buyers, facilitating market access, and ensuring that Fairtrade products reach global consumers. Under its new Financial Sustainability Strategy Fairtrade NAPP aims to commercialise its services and support traders in understanding and adhering to Fairtrade standards, and new trade regulations under HREDD promoting fair prices, ethical sourcing, and transparency in contracts.
It aims to work closely with traders to offers capacity-building workshops and training to better understand the Fairtrade system, emphasizing the importance of ethical trading and sustainability. By facilitating communication between producers and traders, NAPP ensures that fair and transparent trade practices are upheld, helping producers navigate the complexities of the global market while ensuring traders benefit from reliable, high-quality, ethically sourced products.
Consumers
Fairtrade NAPP indirectly engages with consumers by ensuring that producers meet Fairtrade standards and can supply high-quality, ethically sourced products that appeal to ethical consumers worldwide. Through its collaboration with National Fairtrade Organizations, NAPP helps producers connect with consumers who are looking for sustainable and ethical products. By ensuring that producers receive fair prices and Fairtrade Premiums, NAPP allows consumers to contribute positively to the livelihoods of farmers and workers in the Asia-Pacific region when they choose Fairtrade products. NAPP also supports educational and awareness campaigns to highlight the positive impact of Fairtrade on producer communities.
