At COP27, Fairtrade Convenes 'Money Where it Matters' – A panel discussion on ensuring equitable climate finance for human and environmental rights

SHARM EL SHEIKH, Egypt – Food systems are increasingly called upon to enforce human and environmental rights. And access to funding for adaptation and mitigation is evermore necessary for rapid food system transformation among farmers. But what does this mean for farmers’ livelihoods? What are the trends in climate funding and where are the bottlenecks? And could market-driven approaches such as carbon credits become a game-changer? On 11 November, Fairtrade, AgriCord, and IUCN will convene Money Where it Matters – a high-level COP27 side event that will address one of the most critical discussions at the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference – how can the global community deliver climate financing to the farming communities that need it most.
