At COP27, Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens and Fairtrade present Accelerating Climate Adaptation in Agriculture

SHARM EL SHEIKH, Egypt – Smallholder farmers provide up to 80% of food for their communities in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, outlining their importance to the food security of their countries. At the same time, they also face increasingly challenging climate conditions, requiring investments in technology associated with climate smart technology to adapt to the new reality.

On 14 November, the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens (BKMC), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), CGIAR, and Fairtrade International, will host high-level representatives from the Global North and South and young grassroots representatives from the world of smallholder farming in Africa for a conversation on youth-led resilience in smallholder communities and how resources can best be mobilised to tackle the climate challenges faced in the field of smallholder agriculture.
